I love how people are taking street races seriously these days by training and preparing for specific races. This is probably due to the emergence of the Red Hook Crit. I’ve said before how much I like the Red Hook Crit so I won’t bore you with that again. Prolly posted about some of the Italian racers training for the race coming up in Milan and linked to Francesco Rochella’s flickr with some amazing shots from the training session. It’s almost time for the Red Hook Crit in Italy! I’ve said it before but this is such a cool race series! This year they are teamed up with Nike and are holding a running race also on the same course. I wish I could go. I really want to try and make it out to watch the next race in Brooklyn. Someday I would love to host a race of this caliber! Click on the photo.

Cinelli has a good interview up on their site with David Trimble, the organizer of the Red Hook Criterium. You never usually hear anything from the race organizer, but without them there wouldn’t be any races like this. I am jealous of all the active racing scenes going on in cities like LA and NYC and others. Hartford has had some great street races in the past but I don’t think there has been anything in the past year at least. I was talking with my boy Matt the other night and we are going to try and organize some street races for this summer, so reading this interview got me pumped! If anyone has any ideas or wants to help/contribute prizes let me know!
